The Australian Bureau Of Meteorology - Australian Gridded Datasets (BOM - Ausgrid) for the period from Jan 1961 until Dec 2000. The Ausgrid datasets are created by taking observational data from approximately 821 stations positioned across Australia and interpolating this to form a gridded dataset of the required variable for the required resolution. The CSIRO Archive contains the daily atmospheric variable Rainfall at .05° x .05° resolution for the region of South Eastern Queensland in Australia. The original Bureau of Meteorology Rainfall daily files for the whole Australia region have been processed to include only data for the South East Queensland region and have been concatenated into two forms. Single contiguous annual files (~14.8 MB), with 40 files totaling approximately 591 MB, and also as a single file (~591 MB also) for the whole period 1961-2000, in netcdf format.
The CSIRO versions of the BOM (Bureau of Meteorology Australia) Australian Temperature datasets are a concatenation of the individual monthly Temperature datasets into a single contiguous netcdf file for the time period 1900-2007 with a spatial resolution of .25° x .25°. The variables tav(Average Temperature), tmax (Maximum Temperature), tmin (Minimum Temperature) & tdtr (Diurnal Temperature Range) are available for the whole of Australia and also as a subset for the Murray Darling Basin. These have also been processed to include calculated Anomaly, Climatology, and Seasonal datasets available for Australia. There are approximately 17 files for Temperature data totalling 921.32 MB.
The Climate Prediction Centers (CPC) Merged Analysis of Precipitation (CMAP) dataset uses a technique which produces pentad and monthly analysis of global precipitation in which observations from raingauges are merged with precipitation estimates from several satellite-based algorithms (infrared and microwave). The CSIRO version of this dataset is a concatenation of the individual monthly data files into a single contiguous netcdf file for the two sepearate time periods of 1979-2006 and 1980-1999 with a spatial resolution of 2.5° x 2.5°. The 1980-1999 version of the dataset has also been processed to include calculated Climatology and Seasonal forms of this dataset. There are approximately 4 files totaling 27.1 MB.
The CSIRO versions of the BOM (Bureau of Meteorology Australia) Australian Rainfall & Murray Darling Basin Inflow datasets are a concatenation of the individual monthly Rainfall & MDB Inflow data files into a single contiguous netcdf file for the time period 1900-2007 with a spatial resolution of .25° x .25°. These are available for the whole of Australia and also as subsets for the three regional areas of Murray Darling Basin, South East Queensland & Victoria (MDB, SEQ, VIC). The monthly Rainfall data has also been processed to include calculated Anomaly, Climatology and Seasonal forms of this dataset. There are approximately 13 files for Rainfall data totalling 424.9 MB and a single file for monthly MDB Inflow totalling 37 KB. An additional .xls file of "modelled data" was provided to the data centre in October 2014. All the data housed by CSIRO is for internal use only. This product (i.e. an Access database and csv files) contains data (longitude, latitude and physical data) that explains the predicted spatial patterns of benthic habitats for demersal fish and benthic invertebrates in the NMR. Predicted patterns for habitats represent point data on a 0.01 decimal degree grid covering most of the NMR (approximately 400,000 square km).
This product (i.e. Access data base) contains data (longitudes, latitude and biodiversity attribute variables) that describes the predicted spatial patterns of biodiversity categories based on species richness and evenness of demersal fish in the NMR. This product provides predictions for total species abundance, species richness and species evenness and estimates of uncertainty for demersal fish. The predicted patterns are represent as point data arranged on a 0.1 degree grid (~ 1.2 km2) covering depths 50-1500 metres in the NMR
CMAR has conducted a number of stock assessment surveys for finfish, beche-de-mer and trochus on the reefs of Torres Strait. During the course of the suveys, habitat data was also collected albeit at a coarser level of taxonomic resolution. The primary objective of this study was to characterise the reefs of Torres Strait in terms of the biological and habitat data collected during these surveys and to relate the nature of the reefs to the available physical data. Information collated for this study included comprehensive datasets on reef fish, beche-de-mer and seagrass; most of which was identified to species level. Information on corals and algae was based on visual estimates of percentage cover morphotypes. Little data on the other reef biota was collected. Multibeam echosounder data collected on Southern Surveyor sea trials SS 12/2004 using the Simrad EM300 multibeam echosounder to acquire high resolution seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information. This voyage took place off Brisbane during December 2004. Ping rate varied according to depth. Data are stored in Simrad *.all raw format at CMAR and Geoscience Australia (GA). There are 42 files totalling 1.59 GB of raw data in this dataset. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report (as available).
Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data was not collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS2011_V02. The voyage took place East of Australia, 30ºS along to 170W (along the western end of the GP13 zonal section (~30oS) east of Australia) from the 14th May to the 5th June, 2011. No ADCP data was collected the ADCP unit was in the US for repairs.
