    The Wangara Experiment was a joint project between CSIRO Division of Meteorological Physics and the Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology. The experiment took place in Hay, NSW (34.5S, 144.93E) from the 15th July to the 27th August, 1967. The dataset includes hourly pilot balloon winds up to 2km. Radiosonde temperatures and mixing ratios.Micrometeorological measurements. Surface observations of pressure, dry and wet bulb temperature, "weather" cloud type and amount and surface wind direction. Geostrophic winds at the surface, thermal winds and estimates of total acceleration.The data is provided in a comprehensive technical report ( ref (1971 )above and link below). The fluxes (latent and sensible) from the Wangara dataset have been recalculated by Bruce Hicks details can be found in the (ref (1981) above and link below). The recalculated fluxes are used in the Wangara2 datasets provided.

  • This record describes the BASTA radar and Radiosonde products by Protat et al. (2020) from observations made in the Northern Territory northwest region. A shipborne 95 GHz Doppler cloud radar mounted on a stabilized platform was used to retrieve vertical profiles of three-dimensional (3D) winds by sequentially pointing the stabilized platform in different directions. The resulting dataset consists of the processed BASTA 3D winds (the subject of the paper), and the radiosonde dataset, which is used for validation.   • This record describes the upper meteorological data collected with combined dual sensing by Windsond and Anasphere tethersonde on the RV Investigator Voyages from 2016 onwards. Parameters measured: pressure, temperature, relative humidity directly, then derived values for height, dew point, vapour pressure, mixing ratio and potential temperature. This data will also be available at the Australian Ocean Data Network (portal.aodn.org.au) and the World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases (https://ds.data.jma.go.jp/gmd/wdcgg/).   • This record describes the End of Voyage (EOV) archive from the Marine National Facility RV Investigator trial voyage IN2015_E01 - Cold Water Trial voyage (including Atmospherics). This voyage took place from Hobart to Hobart from the 29th January to 18th February 2015 and went to 65 degrees south. The voyage objectives included testing the cold water and atmospheric operations; the collection and processing of data and samples to test laboratories, facilities and on board systems; specific testing and checks of aerosol sampling mast, aerosol laboratory and air-chemistry laboratory. Geophysical Survey Mapping data collection, including instrument calibrations, testing of equipment and deployments of XBTs. Data Acquisition operations including the integration and test of underway instruments, new atmospheric instruments and drop keel instrumentation. Data collected included Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP)(75, 150 KHz), Underway (UWY), Gravity, SST Radiometer, Atmospheric data (Absorption Photometer, Nephelometer, Ozone and Radon), Greenhouse data (Aerodyne and Picarro), Underway pCO2, Echosounders (12, 18, 38, 70, 120, 200, 333, Bridge 200 KHz), Multibeam (EM122, EM710, ME70 and SBP120), Deep Towed Camera (DTC), Baited Remote Underwater Video System (BRUVS) and XBT. Additional Aerosol data collected included TSI 3772 Condensation Particle Counter (CPC), 3787, Time of flight aerosol chemical speciation monitor (ToF-ACSM), Cloud Condensation Nuclei Counter (CCN), Spectronus - trace gas analyser based on Fourier Transform Infrared spectrometry (FTIR), Long Scanning Mobility Particle Size (longSMPS), Nano Scanning Mobility Particle Size (nanoSMPS), Neutral Cluster Air Ion Spectrometer (NAIS), Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometer (PTR-MS), PTRMS_AUX, Radiosondes_balloons, Sequencer (SEQ) and Volatility Hygroscopicity Tandem Differential Mobility Analyser (VHTDMA). The EOV paper documentation - Multibeam (EM122, EM710, ME70 and SBP120), Gravity Meter and XBT logs are scanned, archived and entered in the records management system TRIM, reference "in2015_e01".   • This record describes the End of Voyage archive from the Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Investigator voyage IN2015_V01 titled "IMOS Southern Ocean Time Series Automated Moorings for Climate and Carbon Cycle Studies Southwest of Tasmania". This was the first research voyage for the RV Investigator. The voyage took place between the 21st and the 30th of March, 2015 (local time) departing from Hobart and sailing to the south-west of Tasmania (47 S, 142 E) and returning to Hobart. Routine data collected included Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) (75, 150 KHz), Underway (UWY), SST Radiometer, CTD, Hydrology, Atmospheric data including aerosol properties, particulates and composition, ozone and radon, Greenhouse gases data, Underway pCO2, Echosounders (38, 70, 120, 200, 333 KHz), Multibeam (EM122, EM710, ME70 and SBP120) and XBT. Additional atmospheric instruments used on this voyage included two Condensation Particle Counters (CPC), Time of Flight Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ToF-ACSM), Cloud Radar BASTA 95GHz, Cloud Condensation Nuclei Counter (CCN), Long Scanning Mobility Particle Size (longSMPS), Nano Scanning Mobility Particle Size (nanoSMPS), Old Scanning Mobility Particle Size (Old SMPS), Neutral Cluster Air Ion Spectrometer (NAIS), Proton Transfer Reaction Mass Spectrometer (PTR-MS), Volatile Organic Chemical Sequencer (VOC) and Mercury Vapour Analyser (Tekran unit). Three CTD casts to 2250m with temperature, salinity, oxygen, phytoplankton fluorescence, particle backscatter, and beam attenuation sensors were sampled at 24 depths for the analyses of nutrients, salinity, Dissolved Inorganic Carbon (DIC), alkalinity and dissolved oxygen. The top 6 depths (to 150m) were also analysed for particulate organic carbon and pigments. Additional underway samples were collected for particulate organic carbon, biogenic silica, spectroscopic and pigment analyses. The towed undulating CTD (TRIAXUS) with the ECO Triplet optical sensor, Laser Optical Plankton Counter (LOPC) and the newly mounted Submersible Ultraviolet Nitrate Analyser (SUNA) and Fluorescence Induction and Relaxation (FIRe) instruments was deployed. The SAZ-16 sediment trap mooring deployed in May 2013 was recovered. Three moorings for recovery in April 2016 were deployed: SOFS-5 air-sea flux, Pulse-11 biogeochemistry and the SAZ-17 sediment trap mooring. Three profiling floats were deployed: the Argo Hull 638i and Southern Ocean Carbon Cycling Observations and Modeling (SOCCOM) ID8514 and ID9315. The voyage took place from Brisbane (QLD) to Brisbane between September 28 and October 24, 2016. This voyage consisted of three legs. Leg 1 started from Brisbane on September 28 and finished in Fitzroy Island on October 11. Leg 2 started in Fitzroy Island on October 11 and finished in Magnetic Island on October 16.
