This dataset contains the processed Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) data collected on the Phillipines research vessel "Atyimba" in the Mindanao Sea off the Phillipines during June 1995, as part of the ASEAN-Australia Regional Ocean Dynamics Study. This dataset has been processed and is available from the CSIRO Marine Research XBT Group in Hobart. This dataset contains the processed Expendable Bathythermograph (XBT) data collected on Australia's Marine National Facility (MNF) RV Franklin between 1986 and 2002. XBT data typically comprises temperature and depth readings relayed to the surface at intervals of 0.1 seconds as the probe passes through the top few hundred metres of the ocean. This dataset has been QCed by the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research's (CMAR's) Ocean Observing Networks (OON) group. The data can be retrieved via CMAR Data Trawler, please see link below. The data is also available via the international National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) Global Temperature-Salinity Profile Program (GTSPP) (Franklin platform code: 09FA and call sign: VJJF) and Australian Ocean Data Network (AODN).

This record describes XBT data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2015_E01, which departed Hobart on the 29 Jan 2015 and returned to Hobart on the 19 Feb 2015, after successfully testing equipment at 65° south. TuroXBT hardware and Devil software were used. Data are stored in netCDF files at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. There were 14 successful XBT drops over the course of this voyage. This record describes XBT data collected on RV Investigator voyage IN2014_E02.The sea trial included two legs, both from Hobart to Hobart with Leg 1 between 28th of October to the 1st November and Leg 2 from the 1st November to the 6th November. TuroXBT hardware and Devil software were used to acquire the data. Data are stored in netCDF files at CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere. There were 6 XBT drops.
