Multibeam echosounder data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage 03/2006 using the Simrad EM300 multibeam echosounder to acquire high resolution seafloor bathymetry and backscatter information. This voyage took place off the great Australian bight and the Southern Ocean during March and April 2006. Ping rate varied according to depth. Data are stored in Simrad *.all raw format at CMAR and Geoscience Australia (GA). There are 301 files totalling 3.35 GB of raw data in this dataset. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report (as available).
This dataset contains the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 3/2006. The voyage took place in the Southern Ocean and the Great Australian Bight during March - April 2006. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the Voyage Summary and the Data Processing Report.
This dataset contains the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 3/2006. The voyage took place in the Southern Ocean and the Great Australian Bight during March - April 2006. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report (as available).
This dataset contains the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected using the towed profiling Seasoar platform on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 03/2006. The voyage took place in the Southern Ocean and the Great Australian Bight during 28 March - 9 April 2006. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset may be contained in the Voyage Summary and the Data Processing Report (as available).
This record contains data collected on the RV Southern Surveyor, during a voyage, between Hobart and Esperence (WA) from 31 March and 9 April 2006. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and retrieved chlorophyll a estimate, and the absorption coefficient for particulate (a/p) and detrital or non-algal (a/d) components of the water column. 7 stations were sampled and data was also recorded at 29 underway locations. The data was used primarily to validate ocean colour sensors MERIS, MODIS and SeaWIFs and the SST sensor AATSR. Samples were collected and analysed for pigments and absorption coefficients.
This dataset contains the Underway (UWY) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 3/2006. The voyage took place in the Southern Ocean and the Great Australian Bight during March - April 2006. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the voyage plan and voyage summary. The standard Underway (=continuously recorded) dataset from a research voyage includes Navigation (NAV), Sounder (PDR), Thermosalinograph (TSG) and Meteorological (MET) data. NAV data includes GPS (Global Positioning System) measurements of latitude, longitude, ship's direction and speed. MET data may include atmospheric temperature, humidity and pressure, wind speed and direction, and incident radiation intensity. Data are recorded at 10 second intervals.
This record provides the bathymetry and morphometric descriptors of the Tasmanian Seamount Cluster (TSC) developed by Berry et al. (2025). Bathymetry was compiled from CSIRO RV Investigator and Southern Surveyor voyages utlising Kongsberg em710 and em122 multibeam echosounder systems. This was supplemented with data acquired aboard RV L’Atlante utilising a Kongsberg EM12D, during the 1994 Tasmante voyage. This supplementary bathymetry data was acquired and processed by Geoscience Australia, and resampled to allow integration with the more recent, higher resolution gridded data. Bathymetry is gridded at 30 m resolution. Morphometric descriptors were developed following the methods of Grosse (2009) to define a boundary definition layer (BDL). This layer defined 188 volcanic TSC edifices. ArcGIS Pro was then utilised to calculate associated metrics including height, volume, basal area, centroid latitude, centroid longitude, ellipticity index and irregularity index. The edifice outlines, and associated metrics, are all contained in the provided shapefile (TSC_Morphometric Parameters_2025.shp). The edifices were also grouped through unsupervised k-means clustering. The cluster number are also contained in the associated shapefile. A shapefile describing the extents of summit ridges is also provided (TSC_Summit Ridges_2025). In summary, This record contains: • TSC 30m Bathymetry grid • TSC morphometric parameters shapefile • TSC summit ridge shapefile
