This record contains data collected on the FV Laurina P on four voyages between September 1997 and April 1998, along the NSW coast between Byron Bay and Wapengo. A total of 56 samples were collected. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and satellite retrieved chlorophyll a estimate.
This record contains data collected on the FV Tonka between 10 July 1997 and 9 November 1998. During eight trips out of Mooloolaba, Queensland, 71 samples were collected. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and satellite retrieved chlorophyll a estimate.
This record contains data collected on the FV Elena Rose between 14-16 May 1997. Only one trip was made using this vessel, out of Eden, NSW and 11 samples were collected during the trip. Further work carried out for the SeaWiFS project from Eden was made from aboard the Fv Laurina P. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured are the concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments and satellite retrieved chlorophyll a estimate.
Monthly surveys of the continental shelf waters due west of Hillarys Marina (Perth, WA) were undertaken between October 1996 and December 1998, both to provide basic information on the water properties and as in situ validation of satellite SST and ocean colour data. Vertical temperature/salinity profiles were taken at each of the 9 stations across the 40-km transect, as well as depth-integrated nutrients and chlorophyll, light and optical properties, and phytoplankton and zooplankton samples. Surface temperature and fluorescence were recorded continuously across the transect.
