Tests were carried out to investigate target response using 3 frequencies of echosounder data, giving an output in the form of digital traces. The data were collected during the FRV Southern Surveyor cruise SS 02/97 which travelled from Cairns to Karumba to Gove to Darwin.
38kHz Simrad ES60 acoustic data collected during commercial fishing of spawning blue grenadier off the Tasmanian coast in 2005. FV Peterson was one of three factory freezer vessels collection acoustic and biological data as part of the FRDC project. Acoustic data is held by the CSIRO Marine Science Acoustic Group (Hobart). Additional data: gps embedded in ES60 .raw files, Wildlife computers MK9 temperature/depth loggers attached to headline of trawl net, AMFA (Australian Fisheries Mangement Authority) observer biological data (species, length, weight, sex, stage)(contact AFMA Observer section), AFMA trawl shot log - filled in by ships officers for each trawl shot, showing catch, location etc (contact AFMA Observer section). Complementary data sets as per above collected by vessels FV Ocean Dawn and FV Aoraki during the 2005 season.

Complementary data sets as per above collected by vessels FV Aoraki and FV Petersen during the 2002 season. ES60 history files only. No cruise track or digitised echogram data available. Note cruise dates here indicate the period for which we hold data. This is a subset of the voyage duration. The actual start/end dates of this voyage are not known. This information is probably in the trawl log sheets of which we have copies.

This data set contains Simrad EK500 single beam echosounder data at 38 and 120 kHz and Simrad EA500 single beam echosounder data at 12 kHz from the Southern Surveyor. The EK500 data is primarily for water column characterisation (fish stocks, microplankton distribution) and on occasions for seabed classification (particularly prior to the EM300 swath mapper being installed), while the EA500 data is primarily for bathymetric readings.

Acoustic data were collected by the Division's "RoxAnn" system, to measure roughness and hardness of the seabed. The data were collected on two research cruises on the FRV Southern Surveyor in the Gulf of Carpentaria. The first (SS 02/97) was in February-March 1997, travelling from Cairns to Darwin, and the second (SS 08/97) in October-November 1997, travelling from Darwin to Torres Strait and Weipa.
38kHz Simrad ES60 acoustic data collected during commercial fishing of spawning blue grenadier off the Tasmanian west coast in winter of 2003. Petersen was one of three factory freezer vessels collection acoustic and biological data as part of the FRDC project gt76a. Acoustic data is held by the CSIRO Marine Science Acoustic Group (Hobart). Complementary data sets would be acoustic data collected by vessels FV Aoraki and FV Petersen as well as biological measures of fish collected by CSIRO and AFMA observers during the 2003 season.
