Surveys of inshore fish catches, fish diets, and habitat and abiotic factors were carried out off the coast of Albatross Bay, south of the Embley River mouth, in 1991 and 1992.
Surveys of inshore fish catches, fish diets, and habitat and abiotic factors were carried out in the Embley River Estuary, Gulf of Carpentaria, between 1986 and 1992.
The distribution of juvenile penaeids and a variety of fish species within mangroves was determined using stake and fyke nets in the Embley River (Cape York).
Sampling of juvenile prawns took place between 1981-1982. These samples were mainly taken from the Embley River and Albatross Bay region. Samples were collected using beam trawls, plankton nets and set nets. Data recorded include species and length frequency.
Fortnightly sampling of juvenile prawns took place over six years (1986-1992). These samples were mainly taken from the Embley River and Albatross Bay, plus one set that were taken from the Wenlock and Archer Rivers. Samples were collected using beam trawls, plankton nets and set nets. Data recorded include species and length frequency. As part of this project, monthly temperature and salinity measurements were also taken from transects in the Embley River. These data are often referred to as the "Embley River Hydro Dataset".
Surveys of offshore fish catches, fish diets, and habitat and abiotic factors were carried out off the coast of Albatross Bay, south of the Embley River mouth, in 1991 and 1992.
This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 1/87. This cruise took place in the east Indian Ocean during 10 January - 7 February 1987, under the leadership of Tim Davis. Biological data collected on this cruise include a large number of scombrid larvae (particularly southern bluefin tuna) for biological studies and information on the vertical distribution of the larvae. Phytoplankton and zooplankton samples to investigate the plankton variability. Three tuna from troll fishing and a collection of tuna of all species for scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Information on experimental fishing and sampling methods and data from the EK 400. Please note: This metadata record is a preliminary entry derived from information in the cruise plan and/or cruise report. Individual data types - which may span several cruises - will be indexed separately within this metadata system in due course.
This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 8/87. This cruise took place in the east Indian Ocean during 4 November - 15 December 1987, under the leadership of Tim Davis and J. May. Biological data collected on this cruise include abundance and growth rate of southern bluefin tuna larvae from a total of 240 stations. Information on the vertical distribution of the tuna larvae in relation to the thermocline. Tuna larvae samples to study the relation between food availablity and abundance, diet and growth. Specimens for electrophoresis and 169 tuna larvae were identified and their pigment distribution mapped. One tuna was caught from light trap tests, the catches being mainly stomatopods (crustaceans) and myctophids (lanternfish). Please note: This metadata record is a preliminary entry derived from information in the cruise plan and/or cruise report. Individual data types - which may span several cruises - will be indexed separately within this metadata system in due course.
This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Southern Surveyor cruise SS 03/94. This cruise took place in waters off eastern Tasmania during 18-31 May 1994, under the leadership of Jock Young. Biological data collected on this cruise include samples of zooplankton, surface plankton (for the larval fish group), samples from night time midwater trawls including one day time trawl, and acoustic data from the EK 500 at frequencies of 38 and 120 KHz. Please note: This metadata record is a preliminary entry derived from information in the cruise plan and/or cruise report. Individual data types - which may span several cruises - will be indexed separately within this metadata system in due course.
This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Southern Surveyor cruise SS 04/95. This cruise took place in the north-western Coral Sea during 9-26 May 1995, under the leadership of Roland Pitcher. Biological data collected on this cruise include phyllosoma and puerulus larvae samples, video photography of live captured larvae in ship-board aquaria and gut content samples for subsequent analysis. Please note: This metadata record is a preliminary entry derived from information in the cruise plan. The biological data collected on this cruise will be updated when cruise report is available. Individual data types - which may span several cruises - will be indexed separately within this metadata system in due course.
