This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Soela cruise SO 2/89. This cruise took place in waters between Portland, Victoria and Low Rocky Point, on the west coast of Tasmania during 28 February - 22 March 1989, under the leadership of C. Stanley. Biological data collected on this cruise include catch and catch rates of orange roughy from 81 demersal tows. Depth distribution data of the roughy from a transect between 800 m and 1200 m. Information on orange roughy escarpment from the Engel high rise net. Acoustic data, but no orange roughy aggregations were found. 200 orange roughy samples for morphometric analysis of the western Tasmanian population. Sediment samples from about one third of the random station positions. Films of the random stations and of orange roughy resting on the bottom.
