This data set contains Simrad EK500 single beam echosounder data at 38 and 120 kHz and Simrad EA500 single beam echosounder data at 12 kHz from the Southern Surveyor. The EK500 data is primarily for water column characterisation (fish stocks, microplankton distribution) and on occasions for seabed classification (particularly prior to the EM300 swath mapper being installed), while the EA500 data is primarily for bathymetric readings.

This dataset contains the Conductivity-Temperature-Depth (CTD) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 01/2004. The voyage took place in West Australia coastal waters 20-Jan-2004 to 28-Jan-2004. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the Voyage Summary and the Data Processing Report.
This dataset contains the Hydrology (HYD) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 01/2004. The voyage took place off Western Australia Coast 19-Jan-2004 to 28_Jan-2004. This dataset has been partly processed and has not yet been archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report . Southern Surveyor on-voyage hydrology data are typically obtained from water samples collected in Niskin bottles at various depths during each CTD cast. Parameters measured normally comprise temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, phosphate, nitrate, silicate, and nitrite.
This dataset contains the Underway (UWY) data collected on Naturaliste NA200410. The voyage took place off Southwestern Western Australia during 15th - 18th Dec 2004. This dataset has been processed and is archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Floreat.
This dataset contains the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) data collected on Southern Surveyor voyage SS 01/2004. The voyage took place off southwestern Western Australia. 20-28 January 2004. This dataset has been processed and archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report (as available).
The data were collected at 5 stations on the RV Southern Surveyor SS 01/2004 voyage in January 2004. The data were collected to determine the bio-optical charateristics of this region. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured absorption coefficients of phytoplankton phytoplankton (aph) and non-algal or detrital matter (ad) in discrete sea-water samples, determined using a laboratory spectrophotometer. Also concentration of chlorophyll and carotenoid pigments were measured by High Performance Liquid Chromatography of pigments in discrete sea-water samples using the method of Van Heukelmen and Thomas 2001. This data was part of Strategic Research Fund for the Marine Environment (SRFME) project where samples were collected from Two Rocks offshore transect from coastal to offshore stations at five sites (A-E) during (Feb 2002 - Dec 2004). These sites were also sampled during Southern Surveyor Voyages SS07/2003, SS01/2004. Note sites A and B were the same locations from the Two Rocks coastal transect identified as T1 and T6 respectively in Marlin record 6819 SRFME Ocean Colour data. Microphytobenthos samples were collected at sites where Martin Lourey worked. Note that this record contains data for Voyage SS01/2004 only.
