RV Investigator Voyage IN2026_V01 CTD Data
This record describes the CTD data collected on Investigator voyage IN2026_V01, titled: "Cook Ice Ecosystems and Sediments (COOKIES)." The voyage took place between January 02, 2026 and February 25, 2026 (AEST), departing from Hobart and returning to Hobart.
Data for 37 CTD deployments were acquired using the Sea-Bird SBE911 CTD unit #24, fitted with 36 twelve-litre bottles on the rosette sampler. Sea-Bird-supplied calibration factors were used to compute the pressures and preliminary conductivity values. CSIRO-supplied calibrations were applied to the temperature data. The data were subjected to automated QC to remove spikes and out-of-range values.
37 CTD casts were performed. A Benthic CTD camera was attached to the CTD to observe seafloor approximately ~4 m off bottom. Waiting 20 seconds after camera before firing bottom bottles as they use the same channels.
Cast summary:
• #1 – primary sensor channel had blockage, cleared ¾ on way down
• #2 – primary sensor blockage on way down
• #21, 22, 23 – yoyo casts to 600m – No bottles fired
The final conductivity calibration was based on a single deployment grouping. There were no changes to the sensors used throughout the voyage. The final calibration from the secondary sensor had a standard deviation (SD) of 0.00128 PSU, well within our target of ‘better than 0.002 PSU’. The standard product of 1-decibar binned averages were produced using data from the secondary sensors.
The dissolved oxygen data calibration fit had a SD of 0.8692μM. The agreement between the CTD and bottle data was good.
PAR, CDOM, transmissometer, Chlorophyll-A, and Backscatter sensors were also installed on the auxiliary A/D channels of the CTD.
The collected data were processed (quality-controlled), and subsequently archived by the CSIRO National Collections and Marine Infrastructure (NCMI) Information and Data Centre (IDC).
